Language & Literacy Skills

At Brighton Launch, students are given daily opportunities to strengthen their reading and comprehension skills in a supportive and engaging environment. With a focus on key strategies such as retelling, identifying the main idea, and answering questions, students build confidence and improve their ability to understand and respond to various types of texts.

Daily conversation practice is also a vital part of our program. Students learn how to initiate and maintain conversations through greetings, conversational cues, and turn-taking. They also develop the ability to interpret facial expressions and body language—essential skills for meaningful social interactions and everyday communication.

In addition to reading and speaking, students work on practical writing tasks that are relevant to their daily lives. They write emails to family, friends, and peers, create lists and notes, and learn how to complete simple forms. These real-world writing activities help students develop essential communication skills they can use in both personal and professional settings.
